Overview of Koha-DSPACE-SLiMS Live DVD
This live DVD is based on Ubuntu (desktop) 18.0.4 the current latest release of Ubuntu. The DVD Comprising the following LIS & CMS packages:
- Koha 18.0.4
- Dspace 6.3
- SLiMS 8.3.1
- WordPress 4.8
- Joomla 4.9
All the required packages to run the above software are properly configured and all them start working at the installation of Ubuntu with few modification.
The DVD is for the learning purpose of LIS professionals and students. Library professional and students with miniature IT background find the installation of above packages in Linux based operation system very tough. All the packages are ready to use with installation of DVD.
Note: This DVD is configured for learning purpose. For implantation of these packages please use the standard installation procedure of each package.
Installation procedure
Burn the ISO file to DVD or USB using any dvd/usb burning software e.g refuse, DVD Burner.
Note: Burning the iso to USB is recommended as the file size is large and DVDs produce errors during boot time.
The Live DVD can be installed PC/laptop or Virtual Machine
For Direct Installation on your System. Boot your system from DVD/USB and Start Installation from the installation shortcut provided on desktop.
Note: the installation is same as the installation of Ubuntu normal installation.
Post installation process
- Create library-koha user using the following command: Sudo adduser library-koha
(system will ask for super user password enter the super user password Provide the password for library-koha user according to your choice and provide the other information as asked)
- Start apache2 using the following command
- sudo service apache2 start
- Change the permissions of Koha Conf.xml file
Open New terminal by right clicking on desktop and then click open terminal. Execute the following common
sudo chmod 755 /etc/koha/conf.xml
- Accessing Koha Admin and OPAC form browsers:
Open Firefox Browser and type localhost: 8088 in address bar it open koha administrator
